Participation in the meeting of the Working Group of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) on Financial and Economic Stability
Representatives of the State Audit Office of the Republic of Croatia participated in the meeting of the Working Group of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) on Financial and Economic Stability, held on 6 and 7 May 2026 in Washington, at the Supreme Audit Institution of the United States of America (US GAO), entitled "Beyond the Banking Sector: Auditing Non-Traditional Forms of Financial Infrastructure".
The members of the Working Group are 32 supreme audit institutions from around the world, while the aim of the Working Group is to exchange information on audit methodologies and experiences, establish mechanisms for cooperation with international bodies for setting financial standards and analyzing reforms at the national and international levels, and identify potential risks to financial stability. The meeting of the Working Group was attended by 55 participants.
The presentations focused on auditing financial infrastructure and regulators and exchanging experiences among supreme audit institutions. The representative of the State Audit Office presented the most significant results of the compliance audit of Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (HANFA) for 2023 and 2024 - Mandatory Pension Insurance Based on Individual Capitalized Savings (Level II).
The meeting included, among others, a panel discussion on innovative audit and investigative techniques involving US GAO auditors and presentations by representatives of the Working Group on conducted audits (USA, China, Great Britain, Sweden, Indonesia, India, Brazil and Germany). Presentations by external speakers from the International Monetary Fund, Washington University and Georgetown focused on non-bank financial institutions and asset investments with an emphasis on crypto assets. Also, as part of the International Auditors Program organized annually by the Supreme Audit Institution of the United States of America, a meeting was held with this year's participants, including a representative of the State Audit Office of the Republic of Croatia.
