Bilateral meeting with the president of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia

At the invitation of Ivan Klešić, Auditor General of the Republic of Croatia, on March 20, 2024, Jana Ahčin, president of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia, paid a bilateral visit to the State Audit Office with her colleagues: Mojca Planinšek, deputy president of the Court of Audit, Tomaž Kralj, adviser to the president and head of the service for strategic IT and Jerneja Vrabič, supreme state auditor.
At the meeting, experiences were exchanged, among other things, about the way of work and results of both institutions, as well as the innovative approaches they developed in order to contribute to better management of public funds. They also discussed the possible role and approach of supreme audit institutions to the control of the Three Seas Initiative, with special emphasis on the viewpoint and experience of the State Audit Office. Continuing on this topic, a review of the use of funds available from the Mechanism for Recovery and Resilience in the Republic of Croatia was presented, within which a new, agile approach to auditing was presented, as well as its advantages and expected results. Likewise, the importance and experiences of both institutions in the use of artificial intelligence, the advantages of its use in everyday work, but also the possible risks, were discussed, with a special focus of the Court of Audit on the issue of the ethics of artificial intelligence and ethical doubts in its use.
During the meeting, areas of common interest were also recognized and the modalities of continuation of bilateral cooperation between the State Audit Office of the Republic of Croatia and the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia were agreed upon.
