INTOSAI WGFES 2025 meeting
The International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) Working Group on Financial and Economic Stability held its 12th meeting entitled “Planning for Change”. The Working Group is chaired by Gene L. Dodaro, Comptroller General of the United States and head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). The Working Group has 32 members from around the world. The aim of the Working Group is to exchange information on audit methodologies and experiences, establish mechanisms for cooperation with international bodies for setting financial standards and analyzing reforms at the national and international levels, and identify potential risks to financial stability.
The meeting was held in London on 14 and 15 May 2025 at the National Audit Office of the United Kingdom (NAO UK). Annual meeting was attended by 40 participants and 18 participants online. From the State Audit Office of the Republic of Croatia Nediljka Rogošić, Deputy Auditor General, and Ines Stegić, Assistant Auditor General attended the meeting.
The meeting included a roundtable discussion on the application of artificial intelligence in the financial sector, presentations by representatives of the working group members on the audits carried out and presentations by external lecturers from state institutions and faculties on climate risks for public and private investments, new risks to financial stability, cybersecurity and other topics. Representatives of the State Audit Office of the Republic of Croatia gave a presentation entitled “The Health System in the Republic of Croatia; Reasons for Financial Instability”.
During the meeting, the first topic for the upcoming INCOSAI Congress “The Role of SAIs in the Audit of Central Banks during the Financial and Economic Crisis” prepared by the Working Group was presented. The members of the Working Group also met with representatives of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
